RISK MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND INTERNAL CONTROL - MODEL COSO
The Committee of Sponsors of the Treadway Commission (COSO) has developed a risk management and internal control model, in comparison with which the Company can evaluate its own management systems. The COSO model defines internal control as a process that will be carried out by the board of directors, top managers and other personnel of the Company to provide "reasonable confidence" in achieving goals in the following categories: efficiency and performance of operations, reliability of financial reporting, compliance with laws and regulations.
The COSO model contains the following components:
- internal environment
- goal setting (objective setting)
- event identification
- risk assessment (risk assessment)
- risk response
- control activities
- information and communication
- monitoring (monitoring)
