Break-even point of the energy balance of the human body

For effective functioning, the human body must be provided with energy. During nutrition, the body disassembles it for various purposes: regulation of respiration, blood pumping, etc.

The necessary minimum energy for survival is called an indicator of basal metabolism and is 1,330 kcal for adult women and 1,680 kcal for adult men.

However, the daily norm of necessary calories for the human body depends on age, gender, height, degree of physical activity and is calculated according to the formulas of Mifflin-San Geor or Harris-Benedict.

The formula for the main Mifflin-San Geor exchange is:

calories = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) - 4.92 * age (years) - 161 (women);

calories = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) - 4.92 * age (years) + 5 (men).

These calculations are adjusted for physical activity factors, in particular, the minimum load (sedentary work) coefficient is 1.2 and others.

For example, we calculate daily calorie requirements for men of all ages using the Mifflin-San Geor main exchange formula.

For a man of 40 years old, weighing 75 kg, height 180 cm, and lack of exercise, the daily requirement according to the Mifflin-San Geor formula will be 2,016 kcal.

For a man of 20 years old (student), weighing 68 kg, growing 175 cm, and the intensity of physical activity, which provides for exercise 3 times a week, the daily requirement according to the Mifflin-San Geor formula will be 2,308 kcal.

For simplicity of further calculations, we choose one product, namely: a hamburger worth 24 UAH., Which contains 253 calories.

In order to maintain the energy balance of the body, a man 40 years old per day needs to consume about 8 hamburgers with a total cost of 192 UAH, and a student - 9 in the amount of 216 hryvnia.

If you eat this product for a month, then to ensure the energy balance of the human body, a man aged 40 needs to spend 5 760 UAH. (192 UAH. * 30 days), and the student - 6 480 UAH. (216 UAH. * 30 days).

So, the “break-even point” of the functioning of the human body at the age of 40 will be 5 760 UAH., And the student - 6 480 hryvnia.

The calculations are conditional, do not include a whole range of other elements of a healthy diet, and are only intended to draw attention to the economic component of providing the human body with energy

Only a high level of human qualification will allow you to get a decent job and provide your own body not only with energy, but with other benefits, both material and non-material, and benefit society.Reference.
